  • QUILTS FOR TEACHER GIFTS

This is one of two quilts I did to thank Claire's teachers when she was in the Squirrels class (a K-1st grade level class). I'm proud of the visual pun on the bottom panel--can you figure it out? If not, click here for the answer.

  • SCHOOL AUCTION QUILTS

I did this quilt for the 2007 River School Auction, during my daughter's last year there. It's called "Carnivale Pinwheels" since Carnivale was their theme that year. It is based on Liz Porter's "Wedding Wishes" pattern.

Embarrassingly enough, this quilt only got 2 bids, and one of them was my husband's! Luckily his bid was the highest.

After I did Carnivale Pinwheels and no one really bid for it, I realized parents were more likely to bid on quilts that their children had helped create.

The second grade quilts (below) raised $850 for my daughter's school, Georgetown Day.

This is the back of one of the second grade quilts. I often use up troublemaker fabrics on the backs of quilts. I coined the phrase troublemaker fabrics to refer to fabrics that I wish I hadn't bought because they don't play well with other fabrics. I feel self-congratulatorily Jungian about including these shadow fabrics behind my quilts.
